Tal Pelter, is the winemaker and co-owner of Pelter Winery. Continuing the family’s farming tradition, Tal studied agriculture at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel, specializing in land and water use. In 1998, he began two years of viticulture studies at Curtin University in Western Australia, earning a bachelor’s degree with honors.
During his stay in Australia, Tal gained extensive experience working with winemaker John Griffith at Darlington Estate, a boutique winery located in the Perth hills, producing premium wines including blends, sparkling wines, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and more. After completing his studies, Tal worked an additional year at Evans & Tate Winery, located in the Margaret River region of Western Australia.
In 2001, Tal returned to Israel with a vision of establishing his own winery. After the sudden and unexpected passing of his mother Tiva in 2002, Tal founded Pelter Winery in her honor. Supported and assisted by the extended family, Tal embarked on a personal and enthusiastic journey to produce premium wines in Israel.
Nir Pelter, brother of Tal, is co-owner and marketing & business manager at Pelter Winery. After the completion of his military service in 2005, Nir chose to join the winery, motivated by the independent spirit of the business, the teamwork, and the excitement of being a part of a new venture. Nir continues to focus his professional energies on strengthening the Pelter brand, both locally and internationally.
Sam Pelter, father to Adar, Tal, Orly and Nir, worked for 25 years as Assistant & Deputy General Counsel at Israel Aircraft Industries. During this time, he and his wife Tiva also established and operated a flower and foliage farm at Moshav Zofit, the family’s home. After his retirement from IAI, Sam joined his sons and extended family at the winery and is responsible for international marketing.
Mitch Pelter, uncle to Tal and Nir, moved to Israel in 2006 from the United States, after a career as Director of Operations at a Los Angeles law firm. Mitch lived in Israel in the early 70's, working at a Kibbutz. Upon his retirement in the US, he visited the family in Israel and fell in love with the country after a 33 year break. At Pelter Winery, Mitch is singlehandedly responsible for supply management and distribution throughout the country. In spite of the decades between his first visit to Israel and his return, Mitch speaks fluent Hebrew and is enjoying his new lifestyle.
Einbar Koren Pelter, Tal Pelter’s wife and fellow-traveler on the journey from Australia to the Golan Heights.
In the past two years Inbar has changed direction from landscape design to raising goats and producing cheeses, and in 2011 she opened “Bara” – Lucky Goat Cheeses, together with Inbal Zarin, in the winery complex.
